
Rhianna Schmunk is a writer and journalist based in Vancouver.
She's currently a senior writer covering domestic and international affairs
at CBC News, Canada's national public broadcaster.
Over the past decade, her work has taken her across North America — from the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies to the halls of Washington, D.C.
Her stories have appeared on Frontburner, The National and What On Earth, CBC’s climate solutions podcast.
For her reporting, Rhianna has been recognized by the Canadian Online Publishing Awards, the Jack Webster Foundation and the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada.
She was a finalist at the 2024 Digital Publishing Awards for Emerging Excellence, an honour recognizing Canadian journalists whose work shows “the highest degree of craft and promise.”
Rhianna is also an instructor teaching the Media Law course to journalism students at her alma mater, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and has served as an expert panellist for the Law Society of B.C.
She previously contributed to Global News, HuffPost Canada and MONTECRISTO Magazine.
